Kawkawlin Township is located less than 20 miles from midtown Bay City in the Great Lakes Bay Region. This municipality is not very diverse, has a lower cost of living than most other Municipalities and is considered family friendly. Bangor Township was established 1859, becoming the third township of Bay County. It sits on the entry point for the Saginaw and Kawkawlin Rivers which offers access to beautiful beach frontage, recreational trails and parks. Bangor has the largest population of all the Bay County Township’s. It is included in the Bay City Metropolitan Statistical Area making it a geographical region with a relatively high population at its core that has close economic ties throughout the area.

Bay City is nested near Michigan's eastern shoreline with easy access to the Saginaw Bay of Lake Huron. The city is host to several celebrations and festivals which are mainly organized in the summer months. The MBS International Airport provides regular air transportation. Popular institutions for higher education in the neighboring areas are Saginaw Valley State University and Delta College.
